I'm good at...!?

| | TrackBacks (0)

've been working in the food & beverage industry for about 8 years include as a part time.

I experienced all Japanese, Chinese and French restaurant, but

Chinese restaurant is the longest one I worked I am a Japanese though. ^_^

There were a lot of Japanese chef in the kitchen but we used Cantonese for ordering.

That's why I'm good at Cantonese.

No, just kidding.

Only I know the menu in Cantonese.

So I could order in China!!!

...may be!?

I'll introduce you just a little!!

鮑魚(Pao Yui)...Abalone

蝦仁(Ha-yan)...Shrimp

烏賊(Yaui-)‥Squid

皮鴨(Pin-a-)‥Peking Duck

Let's see the Chinese character at the Chinese restaurant!!

It's a quite fan!!!

*I'm sorry for the people who speaks Cantonese.

If you'll find some mistake, let me know >_<

Perhaps, some of you have already heard or seen this news.

This severely damaged part of Kanto Highway was repaired in six days.

ap_highway_before.jpg

Progress after 4 days

ap_highway_after.jpg

Photo of the completed road after 6 days

For your information, this speedy work is marvelled many of us Japanese too.

But considering the fact that this highway is necessary for transporting able persons for rescue and relief supplies to northern Japan, where Japan Quake and its tunami hit heavily, it must be done as soon as possible, definitely.

And this quick fixing work shows both of light and dark sides of Japanese culture.

Dark side is...workers had no time for mourning their loss of private life nor for recovering the shock from Japan Quake. (Yes, earthquake occurs frequently in Japan and so most of us are accustomed with it. But magnitude 9.0 earthquake is rare and not expected.) The duties to public welfare and their own construction firms have absolute priority over workers' private lives.

I am sure that most of them cannot imagine refusing the fixing works for lamenting their own damaged families, friends and properties. Unless you have a very important reason, following orders without any complaints is the expected way in Japan.

And Japanese culture demands perfection even in this direst predicament. Have you noticed the finished road has a guardrail with reflectors on each poles, white lane markers which are not omitted nor distorted, and a sidewalk meticulously given a fixed inclination for drainage just in case of raining?

This fixing work should obey the rules of highway construction in every details. Apparently, those features are not at all necessary for rescue operation of Tohoku region!

Of course, there is a light side. Spirit of mutual aid is clearly intact even in this critical crisis. Workers know well that their speed of fixing is the key for helping northern Japan.

Also, they didn't hesitate to work day and night in the midst of continual aftershocks of Japan Quake. (Yes, without 24 hours working shift, the road wouldn't be fixed in mere six days.) All of workers have the pride of professional.

Not only Japanese culture, but also all other countries' cultures should have both of light and dark sides.

Though, Japanese culture seems to work well in crisis, especially.

Myabe the nuclear power accident in Fukushima Daiichi power plant also will be fixed more speedy and perfectly than I guess.

Made some deep impression in my heart...

| | TrackBacks (0)

The next day of lately earthquake , There were still not good phone line.
I noticed a call record on my cell-phone, the number starts from 65.

At first, I thought someone have the wrong number,
but I thought over, the number is Singapore's.

I knew later,
The number was my friednd's one. She is one of my friend and X-co worker since I worked in there in 2008, living in Singapore.
She watched the news about an earthquake in Japan then worried about me.

The next day of an earthquake, I was in Osaka to attend my friend's wedding party.

I happen to see my facebook page by cell phone,
There were some message from my friends in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Canada...
Everyone asked about my condition and how's going on Japan.

At that time, It was so helpful these communicate tools such as Facebook and Mixi, Twitter..etc for the suffers, even me in Tokyo.
All my friend's words touched my heart with warm sympathy for me.

In comparison to which I felt the people in Osaka kept cool by an earthquake.
But how about myself, living in outside of Touhoku area??

It was a late night in Osaka,
Brightly wedding is tomorrow....

What should I do right now??

Voluntary ban -Jisyuku in japanese-

| | TrackBacks (0)

I guess and feel like Japan is covered with an mood of excessively voluntary ban now.

Many events are cancelled, we saw less TV commercials by companies than ever and we come to watch our mouth more than before.

Organizers and big companies which aired TV commercials a lot seem to be afraid of being criticized by the media and public unexpectedly.

I guess many people are faced with the task of considering the impact of what they say or write. There is a possibility that what we said and wrote hurt someone's feeling. But this kind of task exsisted before the earthquake though we might not be so much aware of it.

I hope we could overcome a mood of excessively voluntary ban going around and I could do, say and write what I believe without hesitation.

It is a smell that informs them that spring came.

It is inadvertently fascinated with this a little strong, sweet smell though the plant of a light smell is not bad either.

It is regrettable that the smell is not told here.

Though nowadays at the time of continue still a cold day

Dinosaur Exhibition in Tokyo Tower

| | TrackBacks (0)

Even though hit by Japan earthquake with Japanese seismic intensity scale 5 (same sclae of erathquake hit Christchurch in NZ), Tokyo was almost undamaged. (The death toll of Japan earthquake was seven in Tokyo.)

But, due to the shortage of electric power and mourning for victims of Japan earthquake/tsunami, many events in Tokyo are canceled or suspended even now.

Dinosaur Exhibition in Tokyo Tower was one of such suspended events.

Opening of this exhibition was 19th of March, a week later than original opening day.

kyoryu.jpg

Many fossil specimens, not only rather famous Euro-American ones, but also dinosaurs of Japan and other Asian regions are exhibited there.

Fully restored 25 specimens are the highlights of this event.

And CG movies of dinosaurs and the latest research reports from Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum, the owner of most collections of specimen are also displayed too.

So, from children to adults, those who love dinosars can meet something interest there in the exhibition.

http://www.dino2011.jp/

To fight against dire consequences of the Japan earthquake, visiting the exhibition and wondering those marvelous creatures in past can be refreshing our spirits.

Power saving in Tokyo

| | TrackBacks (0)

We are facing a shortage of power supply in Tokyo now.

Tokyo Electric announced they would conduct planned outage.

Since then, we saw many changes in our life.

Railway companies cancelled some services.

Many shops shorten their business hours.

Many people and company save electricity compulsory and voluntarily.

I thougt train comes every 3 minutes at peak time, many shops are 24 hours and bright at night are convenient. I was used to it and took it for granted.

I believe we could get used to this situation before long.

I hope we will be safe from now and the affected areas will be recovered earliest possible.

What I Thought - About This Earthquake -

| | TrackBacks (0)

We have many kinds of metro and JR line in Tokyo.

Usually, we can ride trains on time, as we want.

But after the earthquake occured, the trafic was much delayed, stopped.

This picture is at Takenozuka station (my hometown station in Tokyo)this morning.

竹の塚.jpg

For the light-cut-off scheduled, the train crew controled the amount of passengers.

(Over 200 people are waiting their turn to enter the exit. as me.)

What I Thought about this earthquake,

・Kindness when the emergency, is very very necessary.

・Train's Emergency stop is thanksfull.(usually, I say 'Delayed again(><)..)

・Japan can cut more electricity and water as usual. Everyone need to think it again.

What do you think about this earthquake?

SUMIDA RIVER

A popular hanami spot for locals with approximately 1000 blooming cherry blossom trees planted in a row along the Sumida River.

The 8th Tokugawa Shogun opened this area to the public so they could enjoy Hanami, and it is a place with long and distinguished history. This place is very close to Asakusa, thus you will enjoy the taste of lively down town culture, and experience the magnificence of cherry blossoms. .

A lot of guests from abroad try hard to lose weigh when their check-out date comes close.

Why do you think they do that?

It's not because of Japanese food.

Let me show you the secret.

I'm writing about the weight of their suitcase not bodily weight.

If it exceeds the limitation, they have to pay surcharge.

That's why they are keen to do packing.

I think someone tackle with managing to lose their suitcase somewhere today.
