Late on Saturday

Most of our guests of our hotel get up late on Saturday.
Waking up later itself is not a bad idea.
It makes our guests relaxing, I think.
But, that also means that majority of late birds flocks into our cafe in the last 30minutes of breakfast time to have breakfast.
Even though our cafe has many seats for our guests,
this kind of action sometimes causes very crowded breakfast.
That is not so relaxing, I have to say.
As the proverb says, the early bird catches the worm.

early-bird.jpg

I sincerely recommend our guests to come to the cafe for breakfasts a bit earlier, for the sake of themselves.

Do you think how much these Japanese items?

d12.jpg d11.jpg d10.jpg d9.jpg d8.jpg d5.jpg d4.jpg d3.jpg d2.jpg d6.jpg d1.jpg d7.jpg

The answer is.........

100 yen !!!

In Japan, 100 yen shops or one-coin shops, similar to dollar stores in the United States and pound shops in the U.K., are commonly known as "hyakkin".

daiso is the most popular 100 yen shop in Japan.

There is a nearest daiso in Harajuku(Takeshita street).

They have online store also.

This would be great for souvenirs!

This morning, one of our Japanese guests told me he liked our hotel and would revisit us and stay here again.

Actually, there are many Japanese guests who revisit here.

But unlike foreign guests, most of them never mention their intention of revisit here.

In Japan, politeness is often considered more important than friendliness,

and that makes casual talks between staff and guests bit uncommon.

So, I am heartend up by his rather rare frankness about his revisit. :-)

Losing weight

A lot of guests from abroad try hard to lose weigh when their check-out date comes close.

Why do you think they do that?

It's not because of Japanese food.

Let me show you the secret.

I'm writing about the weight of their suitcase not bodily weight.

If it exceeds the limitation, they have to pay surcharge.

That's why they are keen to do packing.

I think someone tackle with managing to lose their suitcase somewhere today.

We can help you by lending scale or eating snacks lol.

Almost all Japanese can make this easily.

Yesterday, 2 british guests, Kim-san and Carl-san find this crane on the front counter, and asked me, "do you know how to make this?".

"Sure! I can make it!"

They wanted to make it, so I showed how to make it.

During this lesson, a german guest, Matthias-san, joined the lesson!

They practiced many times, created some cranes to remember the way.

And.....

They did it!!

We all joyed of success. Bravoooooo!

About an hour ago, our guests who have just done check-out made me surprised.

They told me that many airports in Europe are shut down because of the eruption in Iceland.

First, I thought that they were just kidding.

But they had serious expressions..

I found the article about it on website.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/8621444.stm

Volcanic ashes covered northwest part of Europe.

The particles in them have possibilities to damage airplanes' engines.

That's why many airports in Europe are forced to be shut down and many flights are forced to be cancelled.

I hope they could flight back their home (France) earlier and safely.

If you ask for Japanese people,

A lot of Japanese will answer

It is watermelon!

We put some salt on it to make it sweeter.

I feel the fall breeze in the morning and evening.

Every year, at the end of summer, I feel melancholy.

One thing I regret that I did not go to any Summer Fes ...

Sakura Hotels (Jimbocho, Ikebukuro and Hatagaya) and Sakura Hostel (@Asakusa) welcomed so many guests from France last month.

The number of our French guests in July is 3,111 (one in five).

Bienvune!!

France tops a list ranking the number of guest in

Sakura Hotel Jimbocho (http://www.sakura-hotel.co.jp/index.html),

Sakura Hostel (http://www.sakura-hostel.co.jp/)  and

Sakura Hotel Ikebukuro (http://www.sakura-hotel-ikebukuro.com/index.php).

As for Hatagaya,

Japan tops the list.

I know it's easy for Japanese to come to our hotel.

They don't have to go through immigration and customs.

I (We?) have a modest dream.

One day, the number of our guests from some country exceeds that from Japan.

Who am I kidding?

However, we welcomed more than twice as many Spanish guests (35 guests) as Japanese guests (17 guests) yesterday.

It seems to me that my (our?) dream comes true in the near future.

Do I get carried away?

After the workshop, they moved to Sakura Hostel Asakusa and enjoyed Sushi Party and then went to see Sumida River fireworks.

Zoe and Viivi, from Finland, had a good time with UCHIWA workshop, SUSHI PARTY at Sakura Hostel Asakusa and Sumida River Fireworks.

I am jealous. I was too tired from working a night shift to join the events. Shame on me.

Also, I wanted to meet 3 sisters in Yukata at Asakura ... well, I have to wait until next year.

Finland ...I bring up the image of 'Kamome Shokudo' (The movie is set in Helsinki, Finland and I like the atmosphere in the film) and Kimi Raikkonen (my favorite Finnish Formula One race car driver and he was the 2007 Formula One World Drivers' Champion)

At Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka on October 12th, 2008.

A girl was enthusiastically cheering for Kimi.

I did not know at that moment that this race would be the last race for Formula One at Fuji Speedway.

We will join this festival in this September.
