We have many brands of imported beer at our cafe.

Sometimes our guests try too many kinds of beer and get drunk.
A few nights ago, some guests from Canada were drinking like cars drink gasoline!
They are so nice people!

I wonder how many beer bottles they emptied to be like this.
Guess what they are doing on the floor?

Push-ups!

They kept telling me they were not drunk, but I doubted it when they started push-ups.
That was funny...

If you stay at our hotel, come down to our cafe (on the 1st floor of Sakura Hotel Hatagaya). You might find somebody to drink with!

We have welcomed guests from Malaysia today.

As they are Muslims, they seemed to be surprised to see a prayer room at our hotel.
They went outside to have dinner a few hours ago.
What they were planning to have is Tempura.

by Yuya Tamai

They were looking for a tempura chain restaurant "Tenya" near the hotel.
I know it because it is popular among Japanese people.
But I did not imagine that they know it too.

They told me they like the restaurant because it is delicious and cheap.
If I find a guest looking for cheap Tempura, I will recommend Tenya.

Please come to Japan and try good Japanese food!

Tonight at 7pm (JP time),
we are playing against Australia for the FIFA world cup qualifying match.

I myself usually am not the biggest fan of football, but it is a different story when it comes to when our national team plays.

It makes me realize how much I love my country and how much I am proud to be a Japanese.

This game sure will be very exciting, So come to Sakura Cafe Hatagaya to support your team.
Either you support Japan or Australia, or even you cannot decide which team to support, we welcome you!

Speaking of Australia, we have two beautiful little princesses from down under.

Aren't they adorable?  Beautiful sisters, Alexandra and Meaghan.
Alexandra's cheeks are to die for!  So cute! (Yes, I love baby's cheeks.)
Meaghan, she is such an intelligent little girl.

Our staff Ms.Fukuda and I were showing Meaghan how to play with the traditional Japanese toys that we have at the reception.
After we enjoyed playing, Meaghan said to us, "Arigatou gozaimasu!" with such a perfect accent!

And I asked her if she could remember one new Japanese word today and tell me what she learned when she comes back.
Then she replied, " I can remember two!!!" with big lovely smile on her face.
I was very happy to see how she has been so open to completely new language and culture for her.

I can't wait until Meaghan comes back and tells me what she saw and learned today.

And of course, the football match!

Go Samurai blue! Go Socceroos!!!

This is the fifth guest interview at Sakura Café Hatagaya!

The interviewees this time are Mr. Eyal Tendler and Ms. Sabrina Piotrowsky.

They both live in Vanuatu. They are the first guests at our hotel from that country!

They told us that the road in Japan is well paved and clean compared to Vanuatu.

As Vanuatu is a developing country, pavement is not perfect yet.

On Sunday, all the stores close at 5pm in Vanuatu.

They were surprised to see the stores still open and busy at 11pm in Tokyo.

They said it is more peaceful in Vanuatu. They also told us that people in Vanuatu are very religious.

They told us they do not see many Japanese tourists in their country, though there are a lot of them in New Caledonia, the country next to Vanuatu.

According to them, it is a nice country for sightseeing, though it might be hard to live in...

If you are planning to travel somewhere, why don't you go to Vanuatu?

You will find beautiful beaches! You have to be ready to see big insects (such as cockroaches and centipedes) though!

What a great mix of different nationalities and cultures!

They are traveling to Osaka next.
Thank you for staying with us! Have a fun and safe trip!

We hope to welcome you again some day at Sakura Hotel! (^O^)/

We've got a group of guests from Uzbekistan staying at our hotel at the moment. Only one of them speaks English, so we basically communicate with guestures. XD

Yesterday they had a little nomikai at our cafe. They brought vodka and some traditional meat dish from Uzbekistan, and offered us to eat & drink with them.

Of course we can't drink while working, so we opted for water instead. Looks just like vodka, don't you think? ;)

They are going to stay for a few more days. Today they went shopping with Shinichi. I heard they want to cook for us later. I wonder what they are going to prepare.

| | TrackBacks (0)

3 members including me from Sakura group went to Singapore for 6 days to promote our business last week.

,

At first, we exhibited in AFA 2011 (Anime Festival Asia) which is the largest Anime event of Southeast Asia.

Many many people were there, and it was so fun!

Especially we met some our friends who stayed with us before :)

And also we gathered with our guests one night on Japanese Izakaya in there

.

We could met our old friends and new friends in Singapore at that time, had lovely time.

This trip was for the business, so we have no enough time to see everything in Singapore, but we could see a Marina Bay sands which is a famous hotel in Japan lately, and of course the Mar-Lion.

And we tried many kind of foods!!!

Thank you for all people who met in Singapore, we enjoyed very much!!

Actually it was my third time to went Singapore, but I would like to visit there again for sure.

    Hatagaya Guests: Janne

    | | TrackBacks (0)

(This is Janne from Finnland. He's a musician and a frequent guest at Sakura Hotel Hatagaya. We all like him a lot because he's always polite and very modest. We are always happy when he stays with us.)

(Janne speaks 7 languages. Not all of them fluently, as he is eager to add, but I'm impressed nontheless! He talked to me in German a while ago and really surprised me with his good pronounciation. Ususally we talk in English or Japanese though.)

(It seems I was the first staff member he talked to in English, by the way. Ai was really surprised when she found out, because she had only ever heard him speak in Japanese. Maybe I should tell him that my co-workers are always glad about an opportunity to use English with our guests.)

Btw, I'm going to Nagoya next week for an extended weekend! I'll tell you about my trip in my next post. Any recommendations for sightseeing or local food??

    Endlich!

    | | TrackBacks (0)

Also, kommt alle her und redet mit mir! Ich freu mich auf euch!

    Losing weight

    | | TrackBacks (0)

A lot of guests from abroad try hard to lose weigh when their check-out date comes close.

Why do you think they do that?

It's not because of Japanese food.

Let me show you the secret.

I'm writing about the weight of their suitcase not bodily weight.

If it exceeds the limitation, they have to pay surcharge.

That's why they are keen to do packing.

I think someone tackle with managing to lose their suitcase somewhere today.

We can help you by lending scale or eating snacks lol.

    Late on Saturday

    | | TrackBacks (0)

Most of our guests of our hotel get up late on Saturday.
Waking up later itself is not a bad idea.
It makes our guests relaxing, I think.
But, that also means that majority of late birds flocks into our cafe in the last 30minutes of breakfast time to have breakfast.
Even though our cafe has many seats for our guests,
this kind of action sometimes causes very crowded breakfast.
That is not so relaxing, I have to say.
As the proverb says, the early bird catches the worm.

I sincerely recommend our guests to come to the cafe for breakfasts a bit earlier, for the sake of themselves.
