Water-discharge exercise is held at Horyuji temple in Nara Prefecture today.

Today (January 26th) is Cultural Property Fire Prevention Day in Japan.

On this day in 1949, a fire broke out at the main hall of Horyuji temple and burned Japan's oldest mural wall painting. That's why Cultural Affairs Agency and Fire and Disaster Management Agency established January 26th as Cultural Property Fire Prevention Day in 1955.
