On 17th, 18th and 19th of December, in Senso-ji temple at Asakusa, Hagoita Market opens.
Hagoita is a kind of racquets used for playing Hanetsuki, a Japanese traditional game which is similar to badminton but lacks a net.
The beginning of Hanetsuki was not a simple playing but a Shinto ritual for girls, and so its tools are decorated with auspicious signs and symbols.
Gradually, hagoita itself becomes an auspicious decoration.

How about going to the Hagoita Market and getting a Hagoita as your lucky charm?
Many kinds of hagoitas are available at Hagoita Market.

Of course, some of them are actually usable for Hanetsuki games, like this one.
