I often hear people saying that the living cost of Japan is very high. I think they are right to some extent, but when it comes to the cost of food I think it is pretty average compared to other countries.
I work on the night shift and so tonight I will explore around Hatagaya area to find the most economical way to have my dinner.
First of all I went to SUKIYA, one of the largest beef bowl chains in Japan. You might have heard of YOSHINOYA, the pioneer of beef bowl chain, but SUKIYA recently reduced the price of beef bowl which is considered to be the lowest in the industry.
What did I have there??? Beef bowl.... How much did I pay for it?? Only 280 yen...
Next I still feel a little bit hungry and so I went to the Bento box take away store. (BENTO is a Japanese style lunch box).
I found an ONIGIRI (Rice ball) It is 100 yen and really filled me up too!
Lastly I needed a cup of coffee to stay awake for my shift tonight. I went back to the hotel and realized that we have a café.
I grabbed a cup of coffee which costs me 190yen. Not only the taste is nice but it makes my brain more functional too!! (My boss will love to hear that...)
Those 3 places mentioned in this post are opened 24 hours 7 days a week, located near and in the hotel! How much did I spend in total?? Only 570 yen..
Is Japan really expensive???
New challenger wanted to beat my record haha!!
