それにしても今日の東京は暖かだった。先週の土曜日もそうだったけれど、そろそろサクラが咲き出しそうな陽気だ。
ところで、今日3月20日は「ＬＰレコードの日」とされる。1951年の今日、日本で初めてＬＰレコードが発売されたことを記念して設定された日だ。
そういえば、僕が初めて目の前にしてＬＰレコード聴いたのは、中学生のときに友人の家で聴いたビートルズの "PLEASE PLEASE ME"だ。友人の兄が商船学校の遠洋航海実習で立ち寄ったロンドンかどこかで、土産に買ってきたものだった。
いまやどこの家庭でもレコードを聴くキカイはなくなってしまったし、特別な店を除けばレコードは売られていない。それでも僕は「八百屋」や「本屋」と同じように、今でも「レコード屋」と呼んでしまう。

By the way, today (20th March) is the day for LP (Long-Playing record). It commemorates the first LPs were sold in Japan on this day in 1951.
Come to think of it, the first LP I listened to is 『PLEASE PLEASE ME』 by The Beatles. I listened to it at my friend's house when I was a junior high school student. His brother bought it as souvenir when he stopped in London or something. He visited there in the course of a practical training for distant cruise.
Now, we don't have machine for putting on a record. Now, we cannot find LPs at the CD shops with some exceptions (specialized stores). Even so, I tend to call them as record stores.
At Sakura Cafe Hatagaya, there is a LP along with a guitar and a piano, but the sound coming from a speaker is the voice of the radio not LP.
